Action and adventure games may not be as popular as they were in the late 90s and early 00s, but their spirit lives on. Smooth controls, precise movements and fluid gameplay are what make these games stand out. Our recommended games all have one thing in common: they offer the player a sense of speed, quick reflexes and engaging action. Indie developers can learn a lot from their mechanics, movement systems and level design.

The games we present to you today will help you better understand how to design a fluid and interesting gameplay. They also offer valuable lessons for all game designers.

We only chose games that were released after 2010. However, they all have their roots in the games from the 80s or 90s. We tried to cover a broad range of genres and aesthetics.
